Prevent PBX Fraud

While no system is invulnerable there are a number of basic measures that can be taken to minimise the risk of fraud: 

What you can do now:

  1. CHANGE ALL VOICEMAIL PASSWORDS IMMEDIATELY.
  2. Appoint an overall owner of the system to ensure the above is carried out.
  3. Call ATS to book a full security check (free of charge if you have maintenance

What ATS can do for you:

  1. Bring your software up to the latest level within your current release.
  2. Enable call restrictions and barring levels on your system i.e. no call out after 6pm or at weekends
  3. Disable unused extensions.
  4. Eliminate the possibility of accessing an outside line from the outside through an auto attendant or voicemail. There should be no way of accessing dial tone by dialing into your PBX. 
  5. Carry out a full system security audit.
