PBX System Security

Internal telephone systems are frequently targeted by hackers to gain illegal access to your telephone lines. If they succeed in getting access to your lines it will result in a extremly large telephone bill for international and premium rate services. Losses suffered in this way are the responsibility of the customer and not the PBX supplier or network operator. 

Garda are unsure as to exactly how this fraud is carried out. What we do know is that anyone who has been targeted has had weak passwords set on the targeted mail box used to access their outside lines. Passwords such as 1234, 0000 or default system passwords are a licence to print money!
