How do I know how many phone lines I should have?

An analog (PSTN) line has 1 channel and a basic rate (ISDN) line has 2 channels. A fractional rate has 16 channels and a Primary rate has  30 channels. The general rule of thumb is that there should be 1 channel for every 6 phones, however this very much depends on the nature of your business.

Who do I contact if I have any faults on my phone lines?

Who do I contact if I need some new lines installed?

Contact your ATS account manager on 01 2079500 or email sales@ats.ie They will be happy to advise you as to what solution would best fit your business requirements.

I am moving address. Can I hold on to my existing telephone number?

This is possible in certain situations, depending on whether your new address is within the Eircom exchange area. ATS can easily find this out for you so contact us with any queries that you may have.

Can I block mobile or international calls on my phone system?

Yes. Call blocking can be programmed into your telephone system and can be blocked on every phone or on individual phones. It is also possible to block calls outside of office hours, depending on customer requirements. For security reasons many companies choose to block certain calls out of office hours.

Do I need to enter a prefix before I dial?

Yes, for most systems it is usual to dial ‘9’ to get an external line. However this can be adjusted at the customer’s request.

How do I change the time on my phone?

Changing the time and date is different for every handset. For information on adjusting time and date settings look at the user guides relating to your particular handset under Telephone User Guides

Why does my phone say “call abandoned” when I try to call out?

This is usually caused by the phone lines being set up at point to multi-point by Eircom, instead of point-to-point. This issue must be resolved by Eircom. If however the lines are set on point-to-point, you will need to contact the ATS helpdesk by emailing operations@ats.ie

How do I set up my Voicemail for the first time?

Setting up the Voicemail is different for every handset. Look for voicemail information regarding your particular system under theTelephone User Guides

How do I access my Voicemail?

Press your flashing mail key, select voicemail, enter your 4 digit code and follow instructions. If this does not work, follow the instructions for your particular handset under Telephone User Guides

How do I get rid of the flashing message light on my phone?

Press your flashing mail key, select voicemail, enter your 4 digit code, and follow instructions.

How do I reset my voicemail?

Resetting the voicemail is different for every system. Click on Telephone User Guides for the relevant handset. 

E.G.: For resetting Voicemail on Toshiba handsets click Toshiba Systems Settings

How do I transfer a caller to voicemail?

For Alcatel Handsets:

While caller is on the line, dial 8 followed by the extension number and hang-up immediately.

For Toshiba Handsets:

While the caller is on the line

Press CNF/TRN followed by Access Voicemail and wait to be answered

OR Press CNF/TRN and Dial the Voicemail extension No

Press 8 when answered and wait to be answered again

Dial in the relevant extension Number followed by #

HANG UP IMMEDIATELY

What is Broadband?

Broadband is the common term for a high bandwidth internet connection which can send or download information many times faster than with a standard telephone and modem. Actions online can be accomplished more quickly and more easily with broadband.

What broadband speed do I really need?

There is no simple rule relating to broadband speed. The speed required is dependent on the size and nature of the business. Can I make and receive phone calls while I'm working on-line?

Yes. The broadband service is independent of your telephone line.

How often do I receive a bill?

It is usual that ATS broadband bills are issued monthly.

ATS VOICE

How do I switch to ATS Voice?

Switching to ATS is simple. All you need to do is call ATS Voice today on 01 207 9555. The Voice-team will request your most recent telephone bill in order to undertake a detailed analysis of your previous voice calls. This will identify key savings that can be made by switching to ATS Voice.

Will I still get a bill from Eircom?

In most we recommend that customers keep their line rental with Eircom, so you will still receive this bill from Eircom.

I am changing to ATS Voice. Do I have to change my phone numbers or get any additional lines?

No. Your phone numbers will not change and you will be able to continue to use your existing phone lines. The process is simple and you will not notice any changes.
