Pobal, www.pobal.ie, is a not-for-profit company that manages programmes on behalf of the Irish government and the EU. Its mission is “to promote social inclusion, reconciliation and equality through integrated social and economic development within communities”.

REQUIREMENT
Pobal were looking for a centrally managed system that would span their diverged network of 7 sites. They wanted the remote sites to maintain independent access to the Public Switched Network with the ability to transfer calls between sites over their WAN.

SOLUTION
The ATS Group delivered all of the above requirements set out by Pobal by installing an Alcatel-Lucent Omni PCX Enterprise solution which caters for up to 500 users at present with the ability to grow 100 times over. The system also includes enhanced call handling and services throughout the country.

Pobal have two main sites in Dublin with five media gateways throughout the country from Monaghan to Cork, which also include home users. The Omni PCX enterprise acts as one transparent Voice system throughout the country.  This facilitates the easy and cost effective transfer of calls between branches of Pobal throughout the country using the internal dialing facility.

By using VOIP, all sites and users have internal dialing throughout the country over their data network, at no cost to Pobal, with break in/out throughout the country.
This saves Pobal up to €€€’s euro per year.

By using the Omni PCX Enterprise, Pobal has the ability to add new sites or users onto their network with no effect to their other sites. In fact any additional users/sites can avail of all system features but can also run independently if needed. Each remote site can have local trunks for incoming and outgoing calls with desk to desk calls between branches.

The system has full in-built seamless redundancy along with branch redundancy to protect against data infrastructure failure. This system is known as ‘The Indestructible’ as it has redundancy at every level, ensuring that there will be no down time for their staff and most importantly their customers. Pobal’s staff is always contactable because of the investment made with ATS group and the Alcatel-Lucent solution installed.
• Manageability:
Pobal’s IT department has full control of their system via the 4760. The 4760 enable IT to control, modify, add and move users throughout the country using one GUI interface from any PC within their network. There is no longer need for IT to log in and out of applications to modify each branch or to contact the PBX provider to modify individuals systems, saving cost and effort. Within the 4760 all users have full directory facilities with the ability to click to call from their desktop to any other user in the department.
